Cong Ma (Masa), born in Beijing into a family of artists, her practice has evolved into a rigorous unlearning of "useful" constraints. Transitioning from the precision of traditional Chinese Painting to the visceral language of metal, Ma investigates the autonomy of form through a lens of spatial intervention.
Her work operates at the intersection of structure and void, reconfiguring metallic entities into "spatial glitches". By deconstructing the inherent logic of objects and reassembling them into defiant, self-contained volumes, she explores the moment materiality ceases to be a tool and begins to occupy space as an unauthorized attachment. She asks a simple, unsettling question: Do we truly occupy our rooms, or are the rooms simply tolerating our presence?
